Light a Candle

Light a candle for those we mourn.
Into a new life they will be born.
Do not look for them at the gravesite.
They are somewhere else radiating their beautiful light.
They have gone to a new world where there is no darkness, no pain.
Their light and essence will always remain.
Light a candle for those who have left this mortal place.
They are free to travel through time and space.
When we think of them, they are near.
When we sit in a beautiful garden. Their voices we hear.
When we listen to a divine symphony,
We close our eyes, their faces we see.
Light a candle for they have not really gone.
With each flickering flame, in your hearts they will always belong.

He is like a man using a candle to look for the sun

Absence extinguishes small passions and increases great ones, as the wind blows out a candle, and blows in a fire.

There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle

Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.

The best candle is understanding

What do you think of when alone at night?
Do not the things your mothers spoke about,
Before they took the candle from the bedside,
Rush up into the mind and master it,
Till you believe in them against your will?

She was like a candle in the wind... unreliable.

Man loves company even if it is only that of a small burning candle

What! must I hold a candle to my shames?

Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, play the man! We shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.

Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness

"I am but as the spark that gleams for a moment,
His burning candle consumed me - the moth;
His wine overwhelmed my goblet,
The master of Rum transmuted my earth to gold
And set my ashes aflame

Each small candle lights a corner of the dark
When the wheel of pain stops turning
And the branding iron stops burning
When the children can be children
When the desperados weaken
When the tide rolls into greet them
And the natural law of science
Greets the humble and the mighty
And a billion candles burning
Lights the dark side of every human mind

You can't hold a candle to electricity
One romantically warms the heart
The other repugnantly bills you for the heat
